to the Mountains of Peru!
I’m Peggy‑Sue — volunteer, presenter, and proud supporter of our community radio station — and in June 2028 I’ll be taking on one of the world’s most iconic adventures: the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu. Four days of ancient pathways, cloud forests, high passes, and that unforgettable moment when the Sun Gate reveals Machu Picchu in all its magic.
But that’s not all.
I’ll also be tackling the breath-taking Rainbow Mountain, a high‑altitude challenge in its own right, adding an extra burst of colour (literally!) to this once‑in‑a‑lifetime journey.
This is a huge challenge — and I’m preparing for it properly.
Between 2027 and May 2028, I’ll be completing a full programme of UK training walks, including:
- Four progressive Pen y Fan hikes, each one building strength, stamina, and confidence
- A multi‑day trek across the Malverns
- A multi‑day trek through the Cotswolds
- A multi‑day journey along the Ridgeway
These routes will help me prepare for the altitude, long days, and steep climbs of the Inca Trail — especially the ascent to Dead Woman’s Pass (4,200m), the highest point of the trek.
I’ve taken on big challenges before — including five sections of the Great Wall of China — and that experience taught me resilience, determination, and the power of taking one more step when it matters most. Now, I’m ready to channel all of that into this new adventure.
I’m doing this to raise vital funds for Swindon 105.5, our award‑winning, volunteer‑powered community radio station. We give a voice to local people, charities, stories, and music that matter — and your support helps keep us broadcasting, connecting, and uplifting our community.
- Nine days.
- Ancient steps.
- High altitude.
- Rainbow Mountain.
- And yes… plenty of Peggy‑Sue sparkle.
If you can donate, share, or cheer me on, you’ll be part of every step I take — from Cusco to the Sun Gate, and across every training hill in between.
Thank you for supporting both the journey and the community it is for.
